We're back in the spotlight again, talking about the top of the line and what will be the last challenge between AMD and NVIDIA as we wait to see what the two competitors will come up with in the second half of 2022 when it comes to netx-gen GPUs. After the unveiling at CES in Las Vegas, everyone is waiting for NVIDIA to release the monster GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, the most powerful version of the NVIDIA Ampere GA102 GPU, which is expected to deliver 10-15% more performance than the current GeForce RTX 3090.

AMD isn't going to sit back and watch, and after a CES that featured notebook GPUs, it's getting ready for a refresh of the Radeon 6000 series that will likely be identified by the suffix x50 (we talked about it HERE). The new top-of-the-line Radeon RX 6950 XT will be no different, and while not changing the specs, it will come with a very high clock frequency (over 2.5 GHz). According to the latest rumours, this model will have a higher TDP than the current RX 6900 XT: 350 watts, compared to 300 watts for the first RX 6900 XT announced by AMD in 2020.

Returning to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, which we currently don't know when it will arrive, partner Palit has "unintentionally" confirmed the card on its website, unless later removed. According to the report from videocardz colleagues, the Palit GameRock OC RTX 3090 Ti will offer a boost clock of 1,890MHz (+30MHz compared to the FE) with a TDP of 460 watts.

While we're waiting for an update from NVIDIA, we think the launch isn't far off, as the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is starting to appear on the web for pre-orders on some ASUS variants. Unofficial prices are prohibitive, starting at €4,332 for the TUF Gaming RTX 3090 Ti and ending at €4,577 for the ROG Strix LC RTX 3090 Ti.
